Dolphin's food

Bottle-nosed male-dolphins may eat their children. Besides, there are cases when dolphins killed cavies with reasons that are not completely clear till nowadays as the food allowance of dolphins and cavies is not the same and they are not competitors in food.

Some species of dolphins may use different methods of hunting and in measures of one species there are several methods of hunting.

The main food for dolphins is fish and quid, but they also may taste other maritime mammals.

One of the methods of hunting of dolphins is so called "pasture". The school of dolphins follows fishes and from time to time eats several representatives of the fish group. Sometimes dolphins drive fishes in coralline bushes, from which fishes can't get out. It is easier to catch fish in these bushes.

In some areas of seas and oceans dolphins hunt seals, and some dolphins get fishes by throwing them up over the water.

In dolphinariums dolphins are fed with fishes. Dolphins don't have to hunt fish there as people provide them with food and with everything necessary for the life of dolphins.
